"I began writing songs in college at the Boston Conservatory of Music where I was a drama major with a musical theatre minor. My grandmother started teaching me piano when I was 9 but mostly I played guitar till my junior year in college when I started playing more piano.
I took a class in NY with Zusaan Kali Fasteau where we made our own Shakuhatchi flute and that was something that I loved playing. I studied song writing with Steve Citron in NY who had accompanied Edith Piaf in France and he became my manager. He and his wife Anne Edwards thought I sounded like Judy Garland so they produced a two and a half hour one woman concert for me where I sang all the songs that Judy had made famous. Anne was writing a book about Judy at the time because she had known her as a junior screen writer at MGM. She did a tour to promote the book and took me with her to Good Morning America were I sang songs from my Garland Concert on their morning TV show.
I sang in a swing band in NY for 5 years and freelanced in different bands, singing at the Ritz Carlton in NY, the Special Olympics, the Statue of Liberty birthday celebration and the Brooklyn Bridge birthday celebration. I studied voice with Marcy Lindheimer in NY who taught people at the Metropolitan Opera and began teaching voice myself soon after.
I started in the business as a dancer when I was four and choreographed shows for my high school ( Nazareth Academy, Wakefield MA) and highschools in NY.
I moved to CA at the urging of June Millington and began recording at her then new studio, IMA, The Institute Of Music Arts in Bodega. The project went through many changes and years of work to finish.
Now my goal is to write and perform songs that are inspirational and healing. I want to empower people, especially women, to know their own wonder and radiance. We are a small planet and each of us is important for the survival of this prescious earth.
And finally, I want to thank my teacher Master Zi Sheng Wang for his encouragement of my work and for his guidance on my spiritual journey."
Music without words means leaving behind the mind. And leaving behind the mind is meditation.
Meditation returns you to the source. And the source of all is sound. — Kabir
