"Dragon & Phoenix" is an hour long tapestry of continuous ambient piano music and Oriental sounds I originally composed for Master Yu Xiang Chun, a medical Qigong healer, Reiki master and practicing Buddhist living and teaching in Hangzhou, China. Several years ago, Master Yu developed the "Dragon & Phoenix" moving Qigong form to help him recover from a life threatening illness. The results have been so successful that he asked me to write music to accompany the form when he gives demonstrations at healing clinics and seminars.
In the Chinese art of Feng Shui, the dragon and phoenix symbolize the principles of yin and yang, balance and harmony in all things. The dragon represents darkness, water, strength and agility (yin) and the phoenix represents lightness, fire, grace and beauty (yang). When things are balanced in nature, there is health and healing. Likewise, I used these principles in composing the music, trying to keep a balance between the dark and the light sounds, the low and high pitches, the Chinese instruments and the piano, and the intense passages with the more lyrical ones. When the music for the thirty minute Qigong form was completed, I realized that it could stand alone as a body of healing sounds suitable for Feng Shui energy balancing as well as massage, Yoga, Qigong and Tai Chi.
For "Dragon & Phoenix," I used digital samples of Chinese instruments to create a serene, mystical atmosphere conducive to releasing blocked energy. These sounds are balanced with a grand piano, strings and a vibraphone to help relax the body and quiet the mind, combining the best of East and West. I suggest that you listen to this music in a focused environment and that you meditate on the images described in the title of each track. May you increase your health and happiness with this music!

"'Dragon & Phoenix' is Marilynn's sixth release on CMR Moongate Records. This hour-long tapestry of continuous ambient piano and Oriental music was originally composed by Seits for a medical Qigong
healer, Reiki master and practicing Buddhist, Master Yu Xiang Chun in China. Master Yu developed the "Dragon & Phoenix" moving qigong form to help him recover from illness. The movement was successful in helping him back to health, and led him to ask Seits to compose music representing both the dragon and the phoenix as symbolized through the Chinese art of Feng Shui... Seits balances the symbolism of the yin and yang in this recording by uniting East and West through the marriage of digital samples of Chinese instruments combined with piano, strings and vibraphone. The result is peaceful and harmonious...the Eastern and Western musical traditions blended together..." - Massage Magazine, Issue 83 Jan-Feb 2000
Music without words means leaving behind the mind. And leaving behind the mind is meditation.
