Steven Andrew Kacsmar is an engaging singer/songwriter whose music is an intriguing mix of folk, acoustic rock, and the blues. South of Mainstream describes his voice as "a mixture of James Taylor and Willie Nelson. It carries a twang as well as a soulful sound and is also sophisticated." His songwriting is driven by the complexity of relationships and his passion for social and environmental justice.
Steven's debut solo CD, "Dreams and Destiny" was released by SunLotus Music in 2003. Produced by Grammy nominee Roberta Donnay, this CD features stellar musicians such as Gigi Gonaway (Mariah Carey) on drums, Stuart Hamm (Joe Satriani) on bass, and Matt Baxter (Shanachie Records) on lead guitar, dobro, and mandolin. The project was recorded and engineered by David Freiberg (Quicksilver Messenger Service, Jefferson Starship).
His song "There Must Be Something More" was performed in an anti-violence musical at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, featuring 500 youth performers. "It's Our World" was featured at a meeting of California Peace Action and the 2003 Earth Charter Summit in San Francisco. "Small Steps" was written specifically for the 2004 Earth Charter Community Summit.
While continuing his solo career, Steven has formed a new acoustic-rock band, Phantom City. They are currently working on a new CD. Steven has performed in the San Francisco Bay Area at venues and events such as Freight and Salvage, The Silverado Resort, The Artemis Gallery, Old Vics, La Pena Cultural Center, The Stork Club, Peri's, The Brainwash Cafe, The ICAN Gallery, The Masonic Auditorium, Steve Sodokoff's 'Gimme Shelter' Benefit for the Homeless, and The OMI Family Festival.
Steven runs a monthly songwriters showcase in San Francisco which is put on by Songsalive!, a non-profit organization supporting songwriters around the world.

Staff Notes
I have to say that I was quite impressed when I first looked at the credits on Steven Andrew Kacsmar's album and saw the all-star lineup of major league musicians and producers. I thought, "this could really be good". And I have to say that I was certainly not disappointed. Of course, the centerpiece of the music are the lyrics, vocals, and musicianship of Steven who is extremely talented in his own right, and has created some wonderful original tunes that lovers of folk, rock, blues, and country should enjoy. ~ Michael Diamond, SongPeddler Music Reviewer
Music without words means leaving behind the mind. And leaving behind the mind is meditation.
Meditation returns you to the source. And the source of all is sound. — Kabir
